Aurora | Caunayan Falls

AURORA | Caunayan Falls
Cold Spring Waters And A Rich Foliage

A fresh dip in some of Aurora's lovely stream. The falls is just merely a coincidence of a flow coming from a rock wall. Even so, cold spring waters are a delight especially on humid days. But what an effort it is to visit, even though the place can be reached by hiring a tricycle. There is a newly established unpaved road going deep into the most rural areas of Aurora where houses could be kilometers away from one another.

The trip is battering, with the unpaved road laden with big pebble rocks that without them, on a rainy day, the trip would have been impossible. The road also passes through privately owned lands, an effort that we had to pay Php 20.00 just by passing through, and there are 3 of them before you can even reach the entrance. Hassle really and a big hindrance to tourism if you ask me. The fees are twice the entrance to the falls itself which is only Php 10.00 for an all day relaxing moment in this lushly covered natural pool. The falling water looks like a trickle compared to any other falls, but the water is cold and refreshing, worthy of the effort and being part of my itinerary for this day. I love the spring water, the shower of water from a lofty height and the seemingly impenetrable forest that harbors it, a real nice treat for nature trekking.

A visit to Caunayan Falls can be part of guided tours provided by the government of Aurora's Department of Tourism. At Php 800.00 for an entire day of trekking Aurora's inland and coastal location. It's as easy as hailing a Tricycle driver off the road in Sabang Beach in Baler, the tricycle with DOT ID's that is, standard rate.

  13. Ang ganda ng Falls, the 3rd photo reminds me of Daranak Falls. Ang sarap maligo sa malinaw na tubig.

  19. Looking forward to visit this next after my trip to Hidden Valley Laguna. Is the water there deep? I can't really swim well so I fear I might drown. Thanks for sharing your experience. :)
