Mountain | Daring The Rock Monolith Of Pico de Loro

MOUNTAIN | Daring The Rock Monolith of Pico de Loro
Ternate Cavite And Nasugbu Batangas

Mt Palay Palay or more popularly known as Mt Pico de Loro is one of the esteemed outdoor destination near Metro Manila. This is one of the mountains that I have planned to climb for a long time now but didn’t get the opportunity until an invite came from a fellow travel blogger Arnie of The Kid Wanderer. Known for the rock monolith that had earned its pseudo name Pico de Loro (Parrot’s beak), the proliferation of Social Media had drawn numbers of visitors and climbers in the last few years. The challenge of scaling the rock monolith is death defying and is said to only draw the daredevils and the-not-so faint hearted ones, more so for the 2nd camping site is a place shrouded in bamboo’s near the ridges of the mountain summit, offering a sweeping panorama of the surrounding terrain of forest, coves and rolling hills.

Mountain | Mt Pulag Sunrise In The Rolling Hills

MOUNTAIN | Mt Pulag Sunrise In The Rolling Hills Part II
Mt Pulag Climb In Photos Part II

Everyone who climbs the slopes of Mt Pulag in Benguet hopes to witness the sunrise as it unfolds in the Summit. Said to be one of the most scenic spot for Sunrise viewing in the country due to Sea of Clouds Phenomena and being that Mt Pulag is the roof of Luzon. I got my share of the spectacle, and these are some of the photos leading up to this memorable experience.

Mountain | Walking In The Clouds of Mt Pulag

MOUNTAIN | Walking In The Clouds of Mt Pulag Part 1
Mt Pulag Climb in Photos

“Climb if you will, but remember that courage and strength are nought without prudence, and that a momentary negligence may destroy the happiness of a lifetime. Do nothing in haste; look well to each step; and from the beginning think what may be the end.”
- Edward Whymper, Scrambles Amongst the Alps

Mt Pulag for most Filipino outdoor enthusiast is the mountain of dreams, what with the many taglines and titles alluded to this esteemed peak in the Cordilleras. There had been a lot of instances where I planned to climb this mountain only to be re-scheduled, thwarted or cancelled, perhaps it was fate that I have come to a point where I would read through someone’s account of their personal experience in a blog post, thinking that most had been exaggerated stories of zero visibilities, extreme cold, or deadly inclines, I have kept my opinion to myself until I’ve experienced it but I have been deeply jealous all along, I have yet to confirm why this is a must-do in the bucket list.

Travel Photo | Hundred Islands National Park

TRAVEL PHOTO | Hundred Islands National Park
Lingayen Gulf, Alaminos City, Pangasinan

Scattered in the Lingayen Gulf of Pangasinan, some 123 to 124 Islands is the famous Hundred Islands National Park. I would say famous because I had first known about this National Park from my Grade School books as one of those Geological treasures turned into a Tourist attraction for everyone to enjoy. Lucap Wharf off the coast of Alaminos City is the jump off point, some 240 km North of Manila. The islands are dusty piles of Ancient Corals of an exposed Seabed, with peculiar mushroom-like shape due to erosion. There are only a number of Islands open for visiting Tourist mainly the Governor's Island, Marcos Island and the Children's Island. The park is also a location for the conservation of Giant Clams and its Terrestrial wildlife among the islands.

Travel Photo | Caramoan Peninsula

TRAVEL PHOTO | Caramoan Peninsula
Caramoan, Camarines Sur

Caramoan Peninsula is a place of scenic landscape, off its coast are a scattering of Islands and Islets with about 10 principal islands that are frequently visited by travelers and a site location for the reality TV Show Survivor. An approximately 12 hours of travel time from Manila by land, one could say "How far is it to paradise?" but paradise it is. The charms of Caramoan in the Bicol Region can easily compete with the landscape that we so concentiously compare with MIMAROPA Region. Just one visit for me and I realise that there is no need for me to look at other Asian countries for their travel destination gems, we have our own beautiful corner in here.

Travel Photo | Bolinao Rock Formation

TRAVEL PHOTO | Bolinao Rock Formation
Patar Beach, Bolinao, Pangasinan

One of the must see place along the long stretch of Patar Beach is its side of Rock Formations trust out into the breakwaters. An overflow of volcanic rock or lava from a long time ago volcanic erruption, evidence of Bolinao's violent past. All over Brgy Patar is a scattering of Volcanic rocks and underground caves, what makes the Bolinao Rock Formation special is that since it extends beyond the beach and serves as break water for the incoming waves of West Philippine Sea, it becomes a very good vantage point to look over the rugged landscape of Patar and its Golden Beach just above the eye level, a treat for landscape photographers and photo enthusiast.

Travel Photo | Kiltepan Viewpoint, Sagada

TRAVEL PHOTO | Kiltepan Viewpoint
Sagada, Mountain Province

Kiltepan Viewpoint is perhaps the most scenic place for sunrise viewing in Sagada as the Sea of Clouds at eye level hover a valley, littered with Pine Trees along rugged landscape of The Mountain Province, in the Philippine Cordillera's. On good weather conditions, you may find yourself standing in the viewpoint as you watch the romantic outburst of morning Sunlight and think about your special someone a "Wish You Were Here" card.

FALLS | The Grand Hidden Waterfalls of Buntot Palos
Venture Off The Beaten Path To A Majestic Falls

Mountain | Above The Clouds And Under The Stars

MOUNTAIN | Above The Clouds And Under The Stars

Return To Mt Timbac (Mt Singakalsa)

"You never climb the same mountain twice, not even in memory. Memory rebuilds the mountain, changes the weather, retells the jokes, remakes all the moves."
-- Lito Tejada-Flores

Above the sea of clouds and under the stars we were.

There was a moment when we all braved the cold and stepped outside just to watch the heavenly moon hover the night sky, like a midnight sun giving just enough illumination to the landscape. Its dark, the weather is cold, but we felt the warmth of inspiration creeping in our hearts, it was a site to behold, and so like paying homage to this beautiful place, we stood in silence as the bright moon revealed itself behind the passing clouds.

Pangasinan | Cape Bolinao Lighthouse

PANGASINAN | Cape Bolinao Lighthouse
Photos Of Bolinao Lighthouse

A tower placed on a vantage point of Bolinao Pangasinan. Known to be the 2nd tallest lighthouse in the Philippines.

In a broad daylight, with few drifting clouds, stepping into the threshold of this abandoned lighthouse was hot. Without a camera filter, my photos would have been glaringly exposed.
Bolinao Lighthouse is a noted destination to visit for every visitor of this lovely coastal town.

A Photo from the open gates. A little hike up, the lighthouse stoods proud on top of a hill.

Standing few meters at the foot of this massive tower.
Being in a close proximity, it is difficult to make the tower fit in my frame.

The tower is no longer in operation, as is, that the building beside this lighthouse is abandoned and dilapidated as well. A nice contrast to frame this beautiful lighthouse.
