Zambales | Surfing In Crystal Beach

ZAMBALES | Surfing In Crystal Beach
Surfing And Chilling

This would be a proud post but not yet a year ender of 2012. Proud that I am progressing much in learning to surf. On my count, this would be the 3rd time, though twice for this year that I went on the road to surf. A month prior to this unscheduled trip to Zambales, I went to Baler, Aurora simply to conquer its waves, and that's were this slow burning passion really kindled. Its easy to chase waves, knowing that it takes special conditions like the weather and time of the year, plus the location itself.

A lot has change in me, on this time, I'm no longer concerned in having that awesome shot of myself standing on a surfing board chasing waves, now I can stand longer on the board, I can navigate it, and also paddle myself forward than let my guide push the board for me.

Though I don't mean to brag, what I can do is show you some of the best shots of me.  This trip was in time with Island Groove Massive with some of the coolest bands to play, too bad the event was cancelled but then we still went for the surf.

For warm ups, I don't really hit it right off bat, it's more of I can't. So after a couple of tries, I got this going on. Previously I was taught to balance on the board, banking on my experience and knowing that I am a goofy surfer (surfer facing left) I paddled, pushed, and glided.

All my guide has to do is watch out for the waves and give me the queue. My previous surfing trip to Baler taught me to watch out were I stand, lest the board will tilt forward or will throw me off, its all about balance, proper footing and stance. I guess I'm learning fast.

On this trip, I'm glad I was with one of the most talented actress in my generation. What's more, we were surfing together. I don't go around chasing pictures with celebrities, but this one was something of a surprise, I'm surfing beside Mercedes Cabral, and she's so cool. She was with us for this trip, invited by her brother which is an office mate. Its not often that I can travel with a hot chick.

A look back at the Crystal Beach, this is not the target place for us to Surf. We came to Surf at Liw-liwa, unfortunately since we arrived December 7, 2012 the waves was a letdown. I don't know the term to it, but the waves are too scary, too strong or too irregular to surf. We waited until next day, but our morning was greeted by a rain. So we decided to head somewhere, not very far were we can possibly surf. Hence, we make haste for Crystal Beach, its an adjacent beach area, but on a different town than San Felipe.

Crystal Beach is more open spaced, much wider and has a friendlier waves for this day.
It wasn't bad, it wasn't bad at all. We surf for at least an hour, each of us. And more so, it was sunny.

The photos below are some of the events captured in Crystal Beach. We stayed for 2 hours before heading back to Liw-liwa once again to watch the pay-per-view fight of Manny Pacquiao in the resort. The fight was letdown, as we all know by now, Manny got knock out. And we all watched it here in real time.

More of our itinerary, accommodation, side trip and transportation in the upcoming post. This trip is best done and organized with friends, as it would be guaranteed that you'll spend less yet get the most of Surfing and Chill vibes in Zambales.

  5. Wow. I've been wanting to experience surfing but I know the balancing is difficult and the waves can be really scary. Anyhow, your post just pushed me to really try it.

  6. If there's one thing I lack, that's the ability to balance myself.. my core is probably at its weakest.. so a surf down the waves of Zambales would throw me off so easily.. hehe! Although surfing ain't on my bucket list, I'd probably try it when I get older or something. Oh, and I was at Crystal beach in 2009. My bf wanted to try and surf but was too afraid to try it just yet. :/

  7. That Mercedes Cabral is a great indie film actress. Tsaka lagi ko sya napapanuod sa Magdalena. :) Nyahaha. You are so blessed, surfing in a beautiful place with a beautiful lady. I am planning to visit Zambales this April. Haven't tried surfing so maybe I should include it on my list of activities.

  10. Swerte sa imo pre! Haha

I didn't know that Mercedes is an avid fan of surfing. Well indeed San Felipe is the best spot for surfing in Central Luzon. Also, they also have the best array of beaches and resorts that are ideal for vacation tours.

  21. I didn't know that Zambales is also a surfing spot though I only knew Baler and La Union. I like the fourth phone - the one with the mountains setting as a background of a beach.
