Baguio | Where To Stay In Baguio

Baguio | Where To Stay In Baguio
Baguio Food Tour 2013

When in Baguio, I prefer comfy lodgings as compared to when I visit other cities in the country. The cold weather is a big excuse to lie in a comfy bed and indulge in a refreshing sleep enjoying the fresh air instead of the aircondition rooms. It's common for Baguio accomodations not to have Air Conditioners, but instead you would have to look for one that has hot showers or you will end up shivering in the bathrooms.

This is my review of Upstairs Bed and Bath that served as our home for the Baguio Food Tour. We were a bunch of 10 rowdy travel bloggers used to many types of accomodations to suit our needs. Used to being on the road, it was true that we barely stayed here as we were mostly out seeking the best watering holes that the City of Baguio and Baguio Tourism has laid to us. It was practical and suitable to our purpose, but here I'll lay our the reason why.

Great Location
From our arrival and rendesvous in the Victory Liner terminal, we only need to walk. Checking the map, Upstairs Bed and Bath can be approached by going to Barrio Fiesta which is an esteemed restaurant in the Metro, suppose to say that every guest from Manila is familiar with this restaurant. There is a long stair coming from the top of the hill beside the road where Barrio Fiesta can be seen, with life size statues scattered on it untill halfway downstairs where the entrance to the Inn, below it is the Leonard Wood Road where the front facade of the GSP building can be seen. Its a walking distance to SM City Baguio, The Our Lady of Atonement Baguio Cathedral or the Session Road.

Hailing cabs is easy as well, the road before where Upstairs Bed and Bath is moderately busy

This cute Dog is one of the staff to greet every guest.

The Practical Choice
To some guest, Baguio City is a place for some quality down time while to explorers it is a gateway to the Cordillera's. The highlands, the Cordillera Autonomous Region (CAR) is home to a rich Cultural Heritage scattered in its provinces, the high altitude mountains that had become National Parks, a traveler has at one point has to pass through Baguio City. A practical lodging like Upstairs Bed and Bath may well served a good purpose if you only need a place to lay down to at night. The most affordable acomodations they have is a dorm type where several double decker beds in one room can be a cozy accomodation before or after perhaps taking a trekk to Mt Pulag, at Php 299.00 is already a taker when you only need a place to rest for a few hours, to freshen up and easily be ready on the road. The place being a turf of students or board reviewers is a small thing to consider along with the common restroom.

I would easily offer this to group of friends looking for an affordable accomodation in Baguio in the midst of events like Panagbenga Festival. A good choice for backpackers and travelers on a budget.

    1. Mines View Park Hotel is a good choice
      Except perhaps the location.
I love their Zenz Bar, with their delectable food and service.
But alas, we found it hard to hail a cab
